An explanation of lipectomy of the upper eyelid
Lipectomy of the upper eyelid is a procedure in which the orbital fat of the upper eyelid, which prevents the formation of a double eyelid, is removed to form a firm, stable double eyelid to the outside.
It is indicated for those with puffy eyelids and those who wish to have a wider double eyelid. Buried suture method of double eyelid surgery can be performed at the same time as lipectomy of the upper eyelid. In this case, one of the needle holes of the buried suture method is used to perform lipectomy of the upper eyelid using microsurgical instruments.
If only lipectomy of the upper eyelid is performed, a needle hole is basically made in line with part of the double eyelid line and the lipectomy is performed. This will not disrupt the double eyelid line.
For those with a single eyelid, it is also possible to perform lipectomy of the upper eyelid only.
This technique is often used in conjunction with full incision, partial incision or ptosis surgery.
Features of our lipectomy of the upper eyelid
- For local anesthesia, we use 34G ultra-fine needles (needle thickness 0.2mm) to minimize pain.
- Surface anesthesia and intravenous anesthesia are used for those who are afraid of even the slightest pain.
- The fat is removed through a needle hole of approximately 2 mm, making the scar almost invisible.
- You can wash your face and take a shower on the same day.

FAQ
For those who have swollen eyelids due to excessive orbital fat, removal of the fat will result in a more refreshed eyelid.
In addition, this orbital fat places a strain on the threads of buried suture method, so if a wider double eyelid is desired, fat removal will stabilize the double eyelid and make it less likely to come off.
In our method, the amount of anesthesia is kept to a minimum of 0.4 ml for each eyelid.
The tension of the thread is not too strong or too weak, but just right, so the swelling around the eyelid will go down in a few days.
If buried suture method is not done at the same time, the swelling will go down faster.
Make-up can be applied immediately after the surgery except for the eyelids.
Eyelid make-up can be applied on the third day after surgery.
At our clinic, we administer eye drop anesthesia and use a corneal protection plate during surgery.
The plate completely separates the eyeball from the eyelid, so there is no damage to the eyeball.
Pain will be minimal because our local anesthetic contains extra agents to reduce any discomfort.
To minimize injection pain, the amount of anesthetic used is kept to a minimum of 1-1.5 cc for both eyelids.
Pain is also minimized by using an ultra-fine 34G needle, as well as a new needle for each eyelid, and by administering the local anesthetic very slowly.
For those who are still afraid of pain, we offer intravenous anesthesia, where you will be unconscious and breathing as usual.
